Greetings, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Beth Waite and I am the author of Ascending Powers. I have included in my Historical Fiction a combination of many First Nations practices in this novel. I live in rural Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, Canada.

My dearest younger sister is Ojibwa and I have spent many years involved in Native Studies, thus resulting in the novel Ascending Powers. This incredible book has not yet been released, I am waiting for this date and hope it to be within the next six weeks.

Please sign my Guest Book, this would be such an honour. I do hope that you will read my book and forward this e-mail to your community. It is my prayer that the Native community will find my writings respectable, informative and sent with love, as I have so intended.

Brightest Oceans of Blessings.

I recently travelled to Wiky and I am impressed on how big the community has become. More of a culture shock than anything else. Also the shock continued with the news of people I knew are not alive any more. Saddening. I have not been to Wiky for a few years. It is time to come for a long visit..

Please take the time to read and post this press release, as well as forward it to as many of your friends and tribal members as possible, especially regarding 11 New Mexico legislators asking President Bush, FDA Commissioner Nominee Andrew Von Eschenbach, M.D., and Health Secretary Michael Leavitt to rescind the approval for Aspartame. Please ask your tribal officials and council to do the same, as well as discuss punitive and exemplary suits against the corporations involved.

We have written repeatedly to the Prime Minister, the Governor General, and the Health Minister recommending that Canada seal its borders to aspartame products to protect Canadians health, and perhaps they would do so if you ask your Canadian readers to take the time to write to them by email. Thus, the USA will begin to comprehend the magnitude and imperatives of ending the harm done by this artificial sweetener. Thank you,

Stephen Fox,

Dear friends,
I'm writing you from Serbia. Few days ago I found in some magazine advertise for tea named Flor essence, it is mixture of 8 herbs: Burdock root , Sheep Sorrel,Slippery Elm, Turkish Rhubarb, Red Clover, Blessed Thistle, Kelp,Watercress. They claim that this tea is invented by Ojibwa Native Americans. I'm interested is this true. And also, is it true that this tea is so effective? And to whom I can write to find more about Flor essence?

Hope that you'll answer me.

I wish you the best

Milan

Great website. My family, husband, kids and I attended the powpow in 2002. I was adopted in mid 1960's...birth name Recollet. I was fortunate enough to meet and develop a very positive relationship with my birth mother before she passed on. But, I have only one unanswered question. Where did the last name Recollet originate from...I know about the Recollet missionaries from the 1700-1800s. Would anyone have any further history. e-mail: aquarianship@hotmail.com. Thanks

Draper Family
Please Help!
May 11, 2006

On May 4th, 2006, our family Tommy and Laura Draper, Spike, Cash and Kim (White Bull) Draper, Tyson and Tierra Draper lost our home in a house fire. It is thought to have been a gas leak at this point that started in the lower level of the house. At 6:15am we smelled the smoke and found the house was on fire, we had time to get Cash and Tierra to safety outside the home. Spike and Tyson used the water hoses and the irrigation hoses to try to stop the fire, the home was in total flames in about 20 minutes...we got out safely, but lost everything. Nicki (Tyson's friend) was trying to go back in and grab some of the dance regalia on the lower level, but the smoke was too bad. I was on the phone with 911 operator and unfortunately there was also another farm fire in Shiprock, NM where their crews were since the night before. They came about 45 minutes after our call...the news will say otherwise. We stood with just our clothes we slept in, me and Laura with no shoes, Tyson and Spike with work boots they found by the door. This is a devastating and unbelievable experience.

Tommy, Spike and Tyson built this home from the ground up and it was so heartbreaking to be helpless and to see them lose their home. The creator blessed us and gave us our lives.

Right now we and families members from Kirtland, Farmington, NM and Chinle, Tempe, AZ are here helping us go through the burned rubble trying to salvage anything. The Red Cross and Salvation Army are assisting us with a room and food at a local hotel until Sunday. We are not sure what plans we have after that. I would like to ask the native and non-native communities for help...anything will help us at this time. We have rec'd clothing and food donations from the local people and family. We have an account set up for cash donations at

Wells Fargo Bank
Draper Family Fire Donation Fund
ACCT #5178269519
100 E Broadway
Farmington NM 87410

or

Drapers
PO Box 504
Kirtland NM 87417

Our plans are now to tear down the structure and to rebuild our home. We have been working nonstop since that morning until around midnight. We are so fortunate to have family and friends from around the country helping us with prayers and donations. We are asking the community to help us with cleanup supplies: gloves, shovels, wheelbarrels, heavy equipment for the tear down and any building supplies to rebuild our home: foundation, plumbing, electrical, lumber, concrete, windows, siding, roofing supplies, insulation. We also need food and water for the crews that are working in shifts. Also furniture, all home appliances, bathroom appliances, bedroom furniture. If you can assist us with any donations, please contact any of the following family:

Tommy and Laura Draper 505-320-9239

Spike and Kim Draper 505-330-4186

Brenda Chischilly 505-320-5188

This was my first time at an event such as yours. The only word I can say is: "wow!!". What an effort and what an incredible result.

To me it was just a wonder to see all the different outfits the dancers were wearing. Then, on close-up, to find out how many hours were spent to achieve such wonderful display of colour and detail. I spoke to one of the dancers who was dancing in his second year, and wearing an impressive outfit, yet said that there are many more hours to work on it until completion.

I just got home and I am still in awe of what I have experienced at your site. This impression will have to last until next year, when I plan to take more time. Thank you so very much for your extreme effort. And, before I forget it, your announcer was A-1 and sometimes even had a funy streak.
